Peptide Therapy in the UK: A Beginner’s Evidence Guide

Peptide medicines and research materials are not the same

A peptide can be part of an authorised medicine, a clinical candidate or a laboratory research material. A medicine’s use, presentation and supply are regulated differently from a research-use-only material. How to read a clinical claim carefully

Look for the condition studied, the study design, the population, the comparator and the outcome measured. A mechanistic finding or an animal result does not establish a treatment benefit in people. If you are considering healthcare, discuss the specific product and your circumstances with an appropriately qualified clinician. Do not treat online marketing, a laboratory certificate or a social-media claim as a substitute for clinical evidence or professional care.

  • What exact product and indication are being discussed?
  • What human evidence supports the claim?
  • Is there a current UK product information document or other authoritative source?
  • What are the known limitations and uncertainties?
