About IGF-1 DES
IGF-1 DES (des(1–3)IGF-1) is a truncated variant of insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) in which the first three N-terminal amino acids (Gly-Pro-Glu) are absent. This truncation dramatically reduces binding to insulin-like growth factor binding proteins (IGFBPs), increasing the proportion of free, biologically active peptide available for receptor binding in research models.
IGF-1 DES is used in in vitro preclinical research examining IGF-1R signalling with reduced IGFBP interference. Studies have compared its potency and receptor activation profile with full-length IGF-1 and IGF-1 LR3 across muscle cell, bone cell, and neuronal cell culture models. It is a valuable research comparator in the study of IGF receptor pharmacology.
